Love Bites in School Library Journal

In an article about all the Eclipse-timed Twilight goodies out on bookshelves, School Library Journal includes a write-up on Love Bites: The Unofficial Saga of Twilight:

the text is smoothly written and sure to please readers looking to consume every possible tidbit. For those who want to dig a little deeper, Spencer does a good job of relating Meyer’s themes to the literary works that inspired her, making comparisons between Bella and Edward’s story and Pride and Prejudice, Romeo and Juliet, and Wuthering Heights that just might inspire readers to pursue these classics.

It’s official! The rumor has been confirmed. Who thinks rentals of Dreamgirls, Gods & Monsters, and Kinsey are going to go through the roof as Twilighters research their Breaking Dawn director?

BILL CONDON TO DIRECT SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT’S THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN

Los Angeles, CA April 28, 2010 – Summit Entertainment has confirmed that Academy Award® winner Bill Condon will direct THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg, and will star Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt, and Stephenie Meyer will produce the project.

“Bringing Stephenie Meyer’s BREAKING DAWN to the screen requires a graceful and intelligent hand and we believe Bill Condon is exactly the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense creativity and subtle sensitivity,” said Erik Feig, President of Production and Acquisitions, for Summit Entertainment.

Added author Stephenie Meyer, “I’m so thrilled that Bill wants to work with us. I think he’s going to be a great fit, and I’m excited to see what he does with the material.”

Happy Birthday, Kristen Stewart!

Kristen Stewart turns 20 today & to celebrate her birthday we thought we’d post the 20 Reasons We Love Kristen!

#20. Her ability to grow out an awkward haircut. Kristen’s transitioned out of the Joan Jett mullet while in the public eye and she’s owned the transition styles.

#19. Her on-screen chemistry with Robert Pattinson — can you imagine how lame the Twilight movies would be if those two didn’t spark as well as they do?

#18. Even though she’s a movie star now, she’s happy to work with her parents on K-11.

#17. Just like her onscreen counterpart of Bella, she’s clumsy! She dropped her MTV Movie Award, and won over even more admirers who can relate to having butterfingers at the worst moments.

#16. Joan Jett loves her. And no one’s cooler than Joan Jett.

#15. Even though we’re used to her as a brunette, Kristen can rock the blonde locks.

#14. Always a good sign: her bosses love her. Every director who’s worked with Kristen sings her praises — her acting ability and her personality.

#13. She can sing. She sounded great in Into the Wild and in The Runaways. Fingers crossed for more onscreen singing in Kristen’s future.

#12. She doesn’t want to make a record. Even though we think she has a lovely singing voice, we admire Kristen’s focus on her acting. She doesn’t want to cash in on an album just because Twilight fans would buy multiple copies.

#11. Her besties are her coworkers. If Dakota Fanning and Nikki Reed want to spend MORE time with Kristen after long, long days on set, that must mean that being around Kristen doesn’t feel like work.

#10. Even though Kristen grew up on sets with parents who work in the movie industry, she doesn’t have a Hollywood holier-than-thou attitude. She’s normal, she’s grounded, she’s K-Stew.

#9. Kristen’s personal style is just that — personal. She doesn’t dress up for the paparazzi, instead she just rocks her casual style. But when she does go glam for premieres, she always chooses gowns that suit her personality with a slight edge or funky quality to them.

#8. She keeps her private life private. Despite the immense amount of scrutiny on her, Kristen prefers to stay quiet about her off-screen relationships.

#7. She’s proud of the movies she makes — big or small. Kristen doesn’t favor big budget movies, or big paycheques, over smaller films produced independently.

#6. She survived being a child actor. It’s not easy growing up fast on film sets, but Kristen has always kept her focus and worried more about doing a good job than being a starlet.

#5. She loves her fans. In her acceptance speech for her Rising Star BAFTA, Kristen put the focus on the people who got her on that stage — her devoted fans.

#4. Lots of integrity in the kind of roles Kristen chooses – she’s always going for layered, complex characters with some sort of core strength and general quirkiness.

#3. She isn’t a faker. Kristen comes across so sincerely in interviews and appearances, not trying to give canned answers. We love honesty!

#2. Two words: Bella Swan. Kristen brought Bella to life and made millions of fans fall in love with her — in addition to Edward and Jacob.

#1. She’s a great actress! The number-one thing we love about Kristen is how brilliant of an actor she is.

Happy Birthday, Kristen!

Tokio Hotel & Wonderland

Finally saw Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland this weekend, in glorious 3-D. In my opinion the movie got better and better as it went on, and Wonderland looked beautiful and creepy and wondrous strange. Go see it while it’s still in theaters & in 3-D! Totally worth the extra ticket price.

Appropriately the beautiful and (sometimes) creepy and wondrous strange Tokio Hotel are featured on the movie’s soundtrack album Almost Alice. In a collaboration with Estonian artist Kerli, Tokio Hotel’s “Strange” is alongside tracks by Avril Lavigne, Metro Station, the Plain White T’s, 3Oh!3, and loads of others.

In other TH-related news, the ECW Crew is proud to announce that Tokio Hotel Fever will soon be shipping from online retailers like Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Tokio Hotel Fever was originally published in France, and in French, and titled Tokio Hotel Tsunami. I saw the amazing photographs in the book, and its beautiful design, and knew that if I loved it as a TH fan, there were likely other English-speaking fans who would like to get their hands on it! So we acquired the rights to publish, had it translated into English, and updated some of the info. We’re really proud of it and hope other Tokio Hotel fans love it too!

And thanks to TokioHotelAmerica.com for posting the link to vote for Tokio Hotel for Best Live Act at Germany’s Comet Awards: go here to vote again and again!
